Entering the Real World
As the newest member of redhotblue, Kate has recapped her first two weeks…
The past two weeks have flown by; it only feels like it was the other day when Jody gave me the ultimate news of a position at redhotblue. In that moment I felt like jumping up and down in joy but also in relief.
The transition out of university is an experience you think you’ve prepared for but it’s not until you’re living it and panicking after all the rejections that you realise it’s determination that gets you through. The best advice I was given was, “You’re going to hear A LOT of No’s but you can’t let that get you down as there will be a Yes and it’ll be right for you!”
Coming in to the position and hitting the ground running has been a great start in seeing how the team works and has made for an enjoyable beginning to the first job in my long career.
Going from a VERY laid back schedule in university (with most mornings including a sleep in) to 8.30am starts each day has been surprisingly easy to adjust to. It definitely helps that each day I’m enjoying the work and I keep wanting to come back.
I can already tell this job is not going to be your ordinary Monday – Friday job as within the first week I’ve already dressed up as a superhero for a day, yes it was for charity but still – not a boring office for sure!
