Be Kind to Animals Week
The RSPCA have stated Australian households to have one of the highest pet ownership rates at 63%, yet thousands of homeless and mistreated animals are looking for their forever home. October 1st – 7th marks Be Kind to Animals Week which promotes the message of protecting and giving love to our four legged best friends.
Be Kind to Animals Week is an initiative of Edgar’s Mission, a not for profit sanctuary for rescued farm animals that seeks to create a humane and just world for humans and non-humans.
Redhotblue joined the initiative of creating awareness for kindness to ALL animals by participating in Be Kind to Animals Week. To show support over the course of the week, a donation drive for Mackay Animal Rescue Society (MARS) was held with donations ranging from food, toys, treats, bedding and everyday pet essentials.
Lee Norris, the president of MARS graciously accepted the donations which will assist MARS foster families currently fostering a number of pets. MARS rescues and re-home hundreds of dogs and cats each year, thanks to the dedication and love of their volunteers.
MARS takes in lost, abandoned and mistreated animals in addition to dedicated volunteers taking in animals from families who can no longer care for them.
There are so many dogs and cats needing love and attention, so adopt a new addition to your family by visiting MARS to find the perfect match. Find the animals for adoption on their Facebook page
MARS is always looking for volunteers, donations and foster carers. If you would like to help out or for further information, visit their website at http://mackayanimalrescuesociety.webs.com/
