Adding events to your marketing calendar: PART 1
Part 1: How to get the most out of event sponsorship
With the festival season well and truly upon us in Mackay we decided to introduce a blog series on the benefits of marketing your business through events. In part 1 of this series we look at using event sponsorship as a means to gain better brand awareness and exposure.
Sponsoring an event can have a number of benefits for a business such as increased brand awareness and recognition, generating sales, increased media exposure and building contact databases. Event sponsorship provides opportunities to put your business in the spotlight positioning you as an authority in your industry. Rather than simply attending an event and handing out business cards, sponsorship brings widespread awareness to your brand giving attendees a taste of your business.
The right fit
Just because an event is well established and is guaranteed to gain your brand attention doesn’t necessarily mean it is the right fit for you. Ensuring the event relates to your business somehow will save a lot of heartache in the long run so make sure you are well-aligned with the event aims.
Level of sponsorship
Sponsorship comes in many shapes and forms such as donating time, money or products/prizes to affiliate your name with an event. There are a number of different levels of participation your business can be associated with, including naming rights, supporting, or product sponsor of an event. Ensure you know what is expected as a sponsor and what you will receive in return.
Make the most out of it
The last key point to note when considering sponsorship is to make the event as successful as possible ensuring you get the most out of it. So make sure you do your part to make the event successful and promote through your own channels; website, social media, eNewsletters, instore and other marketing materials.
