Be Bold for Change!

International Women’s Day – Be Bold for Change!

International Women’s Day globally celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Each year International Women’s Day sees thousands of events with inspirational women who go beyond being bold for change. Today, on International Womens Day our own regional women have embraced bold projects for change. In fact, women in Mackay and the Whitsundays have generated interest beyond these changes. Making a difference for a bold future!

Some of these inspiring women of our region to watch for are:

Nude Lunch Founder and Director, Trudy Crowley is living with ovarian cancer and shared her story at Parliament House’s Teal Ribbon breakfast in early February, 2017. Trudy works tirelessly to raise money and awareness for ovarian cancer, whilst still in treatment. Her inspiration is followed by her Nude Lunch committee of TEAL Angels who support her vision. These TEAL Angels are Jody Euler, Director and Chair of Nude Lunch, Patrice Jamieson, Trina Moohin, Sonia Crowley, Julie Mills, Pauline Townsend, Jacquie Camilleri and Chrissy Evangelou. Together they spread the TEAL spirit so no one with ovarian cancer walks alone.

The Just Saying Project Founder, Fallon Hudson is breaking the stereo-types of beauty and self-worth in women.  She collaborated an exhibition of 50 Fabulous Faces engaging women in our region. Every face tells a story… and involved the display of 50 women photographed and displayed at the Old Mackay Town Hall.  The exhibition is open to the public from 4th-12th March. Do yourself a favour, go along and see these inspirational women that grace these walls. Take your daughters and together we can change the perception for women both young and old.

Women, men and non-binary people can play a part in helping drive better outcomes for women. Through meaningful celebration and targeted bold action, we can all be responsible leaders in creating a more gender inclusive world.

Are you ready to #BeBoldForChange this International Women’s Day?
