Random Acts of Kindness

“Your greatness is measured by your kindness; your education and intellect by your modesty; your ignorance is betrayed by your suspicions and prejudices, and your real calibre is measured by the consideration and tolerance you have for others.” William J.H. Boetcker (1873-1962), Religious Leader, Influential Public Speaker

Picking up litter, buying someone coffee in the office or giving someone a compliment, the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation inspires people to practice kindness and pass it on to others. Being kind to others can make a big difference. Not only do you put a smile on someone’s face, but you feel a sense of happiness too.

Making friends at work can be as simple as being kind. Colleagues are more willing to approach you rather than someone who keeps to themselves. The key with random acts of kindness of any sort is to make sure you don’t have ulterior motives. Whatever you do, do it because you want to.

For our charity/cause pick this month, redhotblue chose Random Acts of Kindness week. From Scott giving Grace chocolates, to Trina serving Angie lunch, to Maeve buying Taryn Coffee. This week inspired all of us to be a little more kind to our colleagues.

As a team at redhotblue, we make an effort to appreciate each other and help out however we can. Working in an environment where we all get along and can have a good laugh together is one of the key ingredients why our work is at a consistently high standard.

Here are a few simple Random Acts of Kindness you can practice in your workplace:

  • Hold the door for someone else entering and exiting your workplace
  • Give genuine compliments when warranted
  • Pay for a colleague’s coffee
  • Buy them their favourite snack to get them through the day.

Take the opportunity to do something nice when it presents itself, and you’ll both be rewarded.
