When is the best time to post on Social Media?

The world of social media is pretty much a digital form of reality. With all the social media sites around, it takes some planning to have the right audience see the right message.

Here is a quick guide; so all posts have a better chance of being seen by the right audience.

1)   Know your audience!

Posting a message after 8pm stands a low chance of being seen by a business. Professionals aren’t at work and the last thing they want to do at that time is anything related to work. It is therefore important to know whom you are posting to.

2)   Know your message!

It is important that your message has a purpose. Plan what you want to achieve with your content and ensure that your message is clear.

3)   Know your network!

The most important step!

Everyone has a preferred social network and it is important to know when there is traffic on that site:

  • Facebook- Traffic ramps up about 9am and fades after 4pm. The best time to post on Facebook is between 1pm and 4pm, especially on Wednesday at 3pm when there is a high interaction rate.
Posting between 8pm and 8am has a low chance of being viewed. This is because people will either be busy spending time with families, engaging in other activities or sleeping.
  • Twitter- It is important to keep it at or less than 140 characters. The best time to post on Twitter is Monday to Thursday 1pm to 3pm. This is when there is the most traffic as people peruse Twitter during their breaks.
  • LinkedIn– LinkedIn is a social media dominated by professionals/businesses. Best time to post is between 7am to 9am and 5pm to 6pm. Most people will look at their LinkedIn accounts before they start work and just after they finish work. Posts between 10pm and 6am have a lower chance of being seen.

Follow this quick guide and the right audience will see your message!
